The tansy has an interesting history and equally interesting symbolism. It has been used in different cultures to treat rheumatism and protect against miscarriages. Conversely, it has been known to be toxic and cause abortions. The tansy has been a symbol of a declaration of war, but it also stands for deathlessness, rebellion, and resistance.
It felt fitting to use a tansy as my first fundraising piece. I will be offering preorders of the print, with any and all profits beyond the costs involved with materials and printing being donated to the Los Amigos Program, a program run by All Saints Lutheran Church that "provides humanitarian assistance and support to vulnerable families through a compassionate and kind community of volunteers and donors." If I don't end up making enough, $10 of every sale, minimum, will go to the organization.
They need a lot of donations for food right now, and I'm answering the call.
The painting will be printed on cotton paper that resembles thick, textured watercolor paper. They are 6" x 6" so they can be hung almost anywhere in your home! If you don't care about a print and you just want to donate, cool! Do that here. Email me at sammi@sditto.art that you donated and you may get a special something sent your way!
