So, when I am visiting a new town, one of the first things I do is look for vegan donut places. When I found Vortex Doughnuts in Asheville, it was instant love. So why would I misspell their name for the title? Turns out they closed abruptly this year after what sounds like new owner fuckery that completely screwed over the workers (who still run the IG, by the way). Luckily, other bakeries jumped in to help them out and they ended up getting the pay they were owed. When I started this painting, I didn't know that, but by the time I was making the finishing touches, I had found that out. May the new owners fall down a vortex of their own. This one's for the workers!!
